A construction site near George, Western Cape is hiring a Warehouse Assistant to assist tradespeople with manual tasks. You will mix and carry materials, dig trenches, clear debris, and maintain a tidy and safe site environment. Physical endurance and the ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions are required. Responsibilities Pick and pack orders accurately according to pick lists, ensuring that the correct items and quantities are selected. Follow all health and safety rules including wearing the required personal protective equipment at all times. Operate basic machinery and equipment such as pallet jacks, hand trucks, and strapping machines after receiving appropriate training. Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the work area, including sweeping floors, removing waste, and storing tools and equipment properly. Assist skilled workers such as mechanics, electricians, or builders by fetching tools, holding materials, and providing general support. Sort and stack inventory, pallets, and containers neatly and safely to maximise storage space and prevent accidents. Label products and packages correctly with batch numbers, dates, and other required information as per standard operating procedures. Requirements A strong work ethic and willingness to work hard, with a positive attitude even when tasks are repetitive or physically demanding. The ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English accurately. Reliability and punctuality are essential as team operations depend on every member being present and on time. A clear criminal record may be required depending on the nature of the workplace and client requirements. Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual work including lifting, standing, bending, and walking for extended periods. Willingness to work shifts, overtime, and weekends as operational demands require. Previous general labour or warehouse experience is advantageous but not always required for entry-level positions.
