## About This Opportunity Layton Construction is looking for a Construction Laborer to join our team. This is an entry-level position with real growth potential and career progression opportunities. We invest heavily in employee development through mentoring programs for new hires and clear pathways for advancement. ## What You'll Do As a Construction Laborer, you'll be the backbone of our project sites, supporting craft workers across structural construction, heavy concrete construction, demolition, and framing projects. Your day-to-day work involves maintaining clean and safe work areas—sweeping debris, gathering and discarding trash, removing scrap iron and wood, and clearing snow and ice as needed. You'll load and unload materials, identify hazards associated with your task assignments, and ask questions when clarification is needed. You'll champion "The Layton Way" by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers. We're committed to "Constructing with Integrity," which means working with honesty, unity, safety, and quality in everything you do. Compliance with all safety policies, practices, and procedures is non-negotiable—you'll report any unsafe activities to your supervisor or our Safety team immediately. You'll need to have the minimum tools associated with the trade and be prepared for the physical demands of construction work. ## What We're Looking For You must be at least 18 years of age and able to perform your essential duties and responsibilities efficiently, accurately, and safely. You should be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and emails, and write straightforward correspondence in return. Strong communication skills are important—you'll need to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. Ability to apply understanding to carrying out simple one- or two-step instructions is essential, as is your commitment to meeting all scheduled attendance and production deadlines. ## Physical Demands This role involves significant physical activity. You'll exert in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. You'll need the agility to ascend or descend ladders, scaffolding, and steep slopes, maintain body equilibrium to prevent falling from precarious situations, and lower your body to floor level while moving about with agility. Extending reach to retrieve objects outside your immediate range, standing and supporting yourself in an upright position for extended periods, pushing and pulling with substantial force, and lifting substantial objects from lower to higher positions are all part of the work. You'll maneuver small objects precisely, grip objects applying considerable force, and detect the attributes of objects through touch—size, shape, temperature, texture, tension, and force. You'll be communicating through spoken word regularly and need to perceive sounds with no less than a 40d. B loss at 500 Hz, 1,000 Hz, and 2,000 Hz with or without correction. You're subject to substantial repetitive motions of the body and its parts, and you must have good depth perception, field of vision, and near acuity.
