Role Overview You will be the face of our home industry store, ensuring a warm, welcoming environment for our customers. You will handle day-to-day retail operations, including assisting shoppers, keeping store clean, maintaining product displays, and processing payments for baked goods and handcrafted items. Key Responsibilities 1. Customer Service & Sales Greet customers warmly as they enter the store and offer assistance to find what they need. Answer questions about products, ingredients (especially for baked goods), and dietary requirements. Actively promote daily specials, new arrivals, or artisanal items to enhance the shopping experience. 2. Cashier & Point of Sale (POS) Process transactions accurately and efficiently using the store's till or POS system. Handle cash, card payments, and provide exact change to customers. Reconcile the cash drawer at the beginning and end of your shifts. Package or box delicate baked goods and crafts neatly for customers. 3. Store Maintenance & Merchandising Keep the sales floor, display shelves, and checkout counter clean, sanitized, and organized. Arrange eye-catching product displays, ensuring all items are clearly priced and labeled. Rotate perishable stock (e.g., cakes, savory pies, rusks) to ensure freshness and prevent spoilage. 4. Inventory & Stock Control Unpack and arrange new stock or daily deliveries from our local home bakers and crafters. Monitor inventory levels and inform the manager when low-stock items require reordering. Conduct periodic stock counts to verify inventory accuracy. Requirements & Skills Experience: Previous retail experience, customer service, or bakery/food-related experience will be a plus. Skills: Excellent verbal communication, a friendly and positive attitude, and basic maths skills for handling cash. Physical: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift boxes of stock, and occasionally carry light deliveries. Passion: A genuine interest in supporting local home industries, artisanal crafts, and baking. Pay: R5 100,00 - R5 900,00 per month Work Location: In person
