Our client, a retail centre in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, is looking for a Security Guard to prevent theft and ensure a safe shopping environment. You will patrol the mall, monitor customer behaviour, apprehend shoplifters according to legal procedures, and assist with emergency evacuations. Retail security experience is preferred. Responsibilities Assist with emergency procedures including fire evacuations, medical emergencies, and crisis situations according to established protocols. Monitor CCTV camera feeds in real time from a control room, identifying and responding to any unusual or suspicious activity. Provide excellent customer service to clients, tenants, and visitors while maintaining a firm and professional security presence. Write detailed and accurate incident reports describing security events, observations, and actions taken for management review. Conduct searches of personnel, vehicles, and bags entering or leaving the premises to prevent unauthorised removal of property. Requirements A valid driver's licence is required for armed response and patrol positions. Physical fitness and the ability to stand for extended periods, conduct foot patrols, and respond quickly to incidents. For armed response roles, a valid firearm competency certificate and experience in handling firearms safely. Grade 12 certificate is preferred; Grade 10 may be acceptable for certain entry-level positions. A clear criminal record is mandatory and subject to regular review as per PSIRA requirements.
