Retail Security Guard

Our client, a retail centre in Tzaneen, Limpopo, is looking for a Retail Security Guard to prevent theft and ensure a safe shopping environment. You will patrol the mall, monitor customer behaviour, apprehend shoplifters according to legal procedures, and assist with emergency evacuations. Retail security experience is preferred.

Responsibilities Respond promptly to alarm activations, investigate the cause, and take appropriate action including escalation to armed response or law enforcement. Monitor CCTV camera feeds in real time from a control room, identifying and responding to any unusual or suspicious activity. Conduct regular patrols of the assigned premises on foot or by vehicle, checking for security breaches, hazards, and suspicious activity. Write detailed and accurate incident reports describing security events, observations, and actions taken for management review. Conduct searches of personnel, vehicles, and bags entering or leaving the premises to prevent unauthorised removal of property. Control access to buildings and sites by verifying identification, issuing visitor passes, and maintaining an accurate access register.

Requirements A valid driver's licence is required for armed response and patrol positions. Good written and verbal communication skills to write reports and interact professionally with clients and the public. A valid PSIRA registration at the appropriate grade level for the position being applied for. Physical fitness and the ability to stand for extended periods, conduct foot patrols, and respond quickly to incidents. Grade 12 certificate is preferred; Grade 10 may be acceptable for certain entry-level positions.
