Our client, a retail centre in Randburg, Gauteng, is looking for a Retail Security Guard to prevent theft and ensure a safe shopping environment. You will patrol the mall, monitor customer behaviour, apprehend shoplifters according to legal procedures, and assist with emergency evacuations. Retail security experience is preferred. Responsibilities Control access to buildings and sites by verifying identification, issuing visitor passes, and maintaining an accurate access register. Conduct regular patrols of the assigned premises on foot or by vehicle, checking for security breaches, hazards, and suspicious activity. Respond promptly to alarm activations, investigate the cause, and take appropriate action including escalation to armed response or law enforcement. Write detailed and accurate incident reports describing security events, observations, and actions taken for management review. Perform regular checks of security equipment including alarms, cameras, radios, and access control systems to ensure functionality. Requirements Grade 12 certificate is preferred; Grade 10 may be acceptable for certain entry-level positions. A minimum of one to two years of experience in the security industry with a proven track record of reliability. The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure in emergency or high-stress situations. A clear criminal record is mandatory and subject to regular review as per PSIRA requirements. A valid PSIRA registration at the appropriate grade level for the position being applied for. A valid driver's licence is required for armed response and patrol positions. Qualifications PSIRA Grade C Registration
