This position focuses on training, coaching, and mentoring new drivers while ensuring compliance with operational, customer, and safety requirements. The successful candidate will work closely with operational and SHERQ teams to improve driver performance, reduce incidents, and maintain high standards of road safety and operational efficiency. Minimum Requirements Applicants should meet the following requirements: Grade 12 / Matric / NQF Level 4 qualification Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar training or coaching role Proven experience as a professional driver Strong operational and transport industry knowledge Previous driver training or mentoring experience will be advantageous Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong commitment to safety, compliance, and quality standards Key Responsibilities Driver Training and Development Conduct practical driver training and job-readiness coaching Mentor and assess newly appointed drivers Assist drivers during deliveries to unfamiliar sites Provide route-specific and site-specific guidance Deliver contract-specific training programmes Safety and Compliance Support operational teams in maintaining safety standards Conduct site and route assessments alongside SHERQ personnel Monitor driver certifications and compliance requirements Ensure adherence to customer and company operational standards Performance Monitoring Analyse telematics and DriveCam data Coach drivers on: Safe driving practices Fuel efficiency Vehicle handling Operational compliance Provide corrective coaching where necessary Reporting and Administration Prepare and submit training and coaching reports Track driver competency and readiness levels Provide feedback to Contract and Depot Managers Assist with incident and accident investigations Why This Role Stands Out Unlike traditional driving positions, the Master Driver role combines operational driving expertise with coaching, mentoring, and safety leadership responsibilities.
