Our client, a retail centre in Stellenbosch, Western Cape, is looking for a Security Guard to prevent theft and ensure a safe shopping environment. You will patrol the mall, monitor customer behaviour, apprehend shoplifters according to legal procedures, and assist with emergency evacuations. Retail security experience is preferred.ResponsibilitiesConduct regular patrols of the assigned premises on foot or by vehicle, checking for security breaches, hazards, and suspicious activity.Supervise and coordinate a team of security officers, managing shift rosters and ensuring all posts are adequately staffed.Perform regular checks of security equipment including alarms, cameras, radios, and access control systems to ensure functionality.Monitor CCTV camera feeds in real time from a control room, identifying and responding to any unusual or suspicious activity.Conduct searches of personnel, vehicles, and bags entering or leaving the premises to prevent unauthorised removal of property.Write detailed and accurate incident reports describing security events, observations, and actions taken for management review.RequirementsPhysical fitness and the ability to stand for extended periods, conduct foot patrols, and respond quickly to incidents.Good written and verbal communication skills to write reports and interact professionally with clients and the public.A clear criminal record is mandatory and subject to regular review as per PSIRA requirements.Grade 12 certificate is preferred; Grade 10 may be acceptable for certain entry-level positions.For armed response roles, a valid firearm competency certificate and experience in handling firearms safely.QualificationsPSIRA Grade A or B Registration
