Quality Control and Testing Officer

A well-established manufacturer of industrial non-woven textiles based in Hammarsdale, KZN, is looking for a suitably qualified Quality Control and Testing Officer reporting to the Quality Manager in the Quality Department. This position is responsible for product development and process optimisation and how these impact on the quality of the goods manufactured. The position would suit a person who enjoys working in a small team, has investigative skill and enjoys problem -solving. Requirements: · Excellent problem-solving skills and root cause analysis · A tertiary education in either industrial, chemical or process engineering · Good computer skills, particularly XL and Word · Meticulous and accurate with attention to detail. · At least two years’ experience in a manufacturing environment · Good arithmetic skills with a matric pass of more than 50% in maths · Must have good written communication skill especially in report writing Responsibilities include : 1. Conducting all product development trials, as well as updating the development register and communicating with the customer regarding said developments. 2. Liaising with the Production Manager regarding the planning of trials into production and co-ordinating with Production Team Leaders regarding accurate and correct running of trials. 3. Compiling, maintaining, and implementing comprehensive test specification 3. Compiling and maintaining all Customer Specifications and MSDS’s (material safety data sheet) as requested by customers, ensuring that the Customer Specification aligns fully with the corresponding COC (Certificate of conformance) template and Product Specification. 4. Prepare IMDS’s (International Material Data system) when required or requested by customers. 5. Assisting with ICAR (Internal corrective action report) investigations in terms of root cause analysis and developing and implementing corrective actions 6. Reviewing, managing and updating all machine settings on all lines 7. Creating and maintaining all package specifications for all products 8. Supporting the Safety & Training Officer in the training of factory staff. Pay: R20 000,00 - R22 000,00 per month Work Location: In person
