Job DescriptionSports & Physical Education Administrator(Primary and High School) Reporting toPrincipal Role PurposeThe Sports & Physical Education Administrator is responsible for the planning, administration, coordination, and delivery of the school’s sports and Physical Education programmes across both the Primary and High School. The role combines strong administrative leadership of the school sports programme with teaching Physical Education and coaching selected sporting disciplines. The successful candidate must demonstrate a sound understanding of multiple sports within a South African school context, excellent people skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with Sports Coordinators, coaches, staff, parents, and learners. Duties RequiredSports Programme Management & AdministrationOverall control and administration of the school’s sports programme (Primary and High School).Planning and coordination of seasonal sports calendars in alignment with the academic programme.Organisation and administration of official league fixtures, inter‑school matches, inter‑house, and internal sporting events.Management of sports‑related records, permissions, medical forms, and compliance documentation.Events, Fixtures & LogisticsOrganisation and coordination of school sporting events, tournaments, and leagues.Liaison with other schools, leagues, sporting bodies, referees, and officials.Arrangement of venues, transport, equipment, and match‑day logistics.Willingness to accompany teams to sporting fixtures and events, including outside normal school hours.Coaching & Physical EducationTeaching Physical Education to Grades 1–7 in accordance with the curriculum and school expectations.Coaching in various sporting disciplines, as required by the school.Refereeing / umpiring where necessary.Promoting participation, sportsmanship, and learner development through sport and physical activity.Staff, Coaches & Stakeholder EngagementManagement and coordination of sports coaches (internal and external).Working collaboratively with Sports Coordinators and teaching staff.Liaising professionally with parents, learners, visitors, and external stakeholders.Effective communication of fixtures, events, expectations, and changes.Equipment & Budget ManagementManagement of sports equipment, inventory control, and purchasing.Assisting with sports budgets and monitoring expenditure.Ensuring equipment and facilities are used responsibly and maintained appropriately.Competencies / Skills / RequirementsExcellent interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, learners, and parents.Strong organisational, planning, and administrative skills.Energetic, self‑motivated, and able to use initiative.Ability to work effectively and collaboratively as part of a team.Computer literacy and ability to manage administrative systems.Skilled in coaching and refereeing/umpiring.First Aid Training (required or willingness to obtain).Willingness to work after hours and over weekends during sports seasons.QualificationsMinimum requirement:A recognised Degree and/or Diploma in Sports Management, orA Teaching Qualification with Physical Education as a completed subject.SACE registration is compulsory.ExperienceMinimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar position or school‑based environment.Proven ability to coach sports is essential.Demonstrated experience in the organisation and administration of sporting events and programmes.Working ConditionsThe role requires availability outside standard school hours for fixtures, practices, and events.Weekend work may be required during leagues, tournaments, and major school sporting events.
