POSITION INFORMATION: BASIC DETAILS Travel Requirement: No Teleworking: No Full-Time/Part-Time: Full-Time (Seasonal) FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Pay Range: $20/hr. - $26/hr. Pay is based on numerous factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. POSITION SUMMARY INFORMATION: DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS The Security Guard plays a critical role in supporting hurricane response efforts in Florida by ensuring the safety and security of designated locations. The Security Guard will be responsible for maintaining a safe environment and protecting assets during potentially challenging post-hurricane conditions. Duties/Responsibilities:Control access to designated sites, including facilities, emergency equipment, or shelters, verifying the identity and authorization of individuals entering. Conduct regular patrols of the assigned area, remaining vigilant for any suspicious activity, safety hazards, or policy violations. Monitor surveillance equipment, alarms, and other security systems, responding promptly to any alerts or incidents. Enforce site-specific rules, regulations, and security procedures, ensuring compliance by all personnel and visitors. Provide assistance and directions to authorized personnel, visitors, and evacuees, offering exceptional customer service and maintaining a professional demeanor. Maintain accurate and detailed logs of daily activities, incidents, and observations, and prepare reports as needed. Respond to emergencies, such as medical situations, fires, or security breaches, following established protocols and procedures. Collaborate effectively with law enforcement, emergency responders, and other security personnel to ensure a coordinated response to incidents. Secure and protect equipment and supplies. May be assigned to various locations, including but not limited to shelters, distribution centers, and critical infrastructure sites. Required Education, Certifications, Licenses, and Experience: Must possess a Florida Security License Prior security, military, or law enforcement experience is preferred. Excellent observation, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations. Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team. Must be able to pass a background check. Be prepared to deploy to disaster-affected areas, often with short notice. Work Environment: Employees may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise. Physical Requirements: Employees may be required to remain in a stationary position, stand, push, pull, climb, kneel, crawl, balance, squat, bend, and reach. Employees may be also required to use gear to move items around, including, but not limited to, carts and dollies. Employees may also be occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds.
