Our client, ArcelorMittal, is seeking the services of a highly experienced Senior Clerk to join its team. The appointed individual will be responsible for delivering comprehensive administrative support to the Port of Richards Bay operations. Functions / Responsibilities · Co-ordination and control of all vessel documentation files for ALL vessels from inception to completion. · Electronic clearing of documents through customs and harbor revenue. · Ensure legal compliance to contractual stipulations of all documents passed. · Create SAP requisitions and SAP GRVs for all consumables and contracted service providers. · Receive material on SAP; create invoices and update SAP as soon as the final Mate’s receipts are received. · Prepare and assemble documentation for all vessels for management and payment. · Check, ensure correctness and submit receipts for payment. · Expedite material and flows – inbound and outbound. · Relate correct information to the Works. · Assist with stock taking and reconciliation. · Safety inspections on all areas of responsibility. · Prepare documentation for payment and submit for approval. · Follow-up with plants on material for export. · Escalates the problems with material to the Logistics Coordinator and Manager to address with the Plants · Follow-up with ArcelorMittal trading and agents on documentation for Import and export material. · Refer the areas of concern and frustration to the Manager and Ports Manager to address with AM Sourcing · Act as a SHE representative for the operation. · Constant communication with TFR regarding positions of wagons (empty and loaded). · Participates in audits with the aim of ensuring that there are no audit findings against the Port. · Attends to queries from SARS/auditors and compiles documents and reports for Manager to address these with SARS · Compile the delays and discuss these with the TPT representative before submitting for approval to the Manager · Refers areas of disagreement on delays to the Manager for discussion with TPT · Attends the meetings of the stake-holders forum at SARS and reports to the department. · Reconciles the train release from TFR before being sent to the Works. · Together with the Logistics coordinator, completes the stock take of material in the SHEDs · Discusses the discrepancies of the material with the Manager to take up with the Plants · Completes CARs for the deviations by stakeholders and completes the necessary documentation · Daily site inspections of sheds and vessels working to ensure adherence to agreed standards · Using the booking list and the shed graph, physically check the stock at the sheds and discuss discrepancies with the manager · Compile documents and attend pre-plans for ALL vessels. · Produces the necessary documents during the pre-plans and agreements are reached on the loading days, stow-plans etc. · Processes delays after the on-board meetings and files all the documents on the relevant files · Refers problems with regards to the berthing/loading of vessels to the Manager. · Provide an administrative function for the office – answer phones, assist with compilation and distribution of reports etc. · Updates the boards on the vessel nominations and movements of trains · Receives the tally sheets from TPT and updates the in-transit list when there are RMTs received for export material · Compare the booking list information with the reports on stock in port and in-transit and follow-up with Plant on status on the outstanding material and refer the discrepancies to the Manager · Refer issues on short shipping to the Manager for discussion and clarification with the Plant and the vessel Planning Specialist · After receiving the mate’s receipts, fumigation, certificates and all the necessary documents, the vessel is invoiced · The invoicing pack is then sent to MISA with the test certificates and packing lists · All the vessel documents are kept on the vessel file which is saved and stored as per legal requirements · Act on behalf of the Logistics Coordinator when he is not available. Requirements · Grade 12 or equivalent · At least 5 years working experience in the Logistics, Supply Chain environment. · Import/Export documentation experience. · Must have specific knowledge of the ArcelorMittal production processes. · Experience of IM systems (SAP, Microsoft pack, ACS and EDI). · Experience of customs and harbor revenue regulations and processes. · Must have strong administrative and planning skills · Knowledge of Logistics inbound and outbound and import consumables business processes. · Knowledge of shipping terms and agency operations. · Good understanding and knowledge of billing and its influence on cash flow. · Valid driver’s license · Own vehicle Personal Attributes Sound organizational skills Good communication skills all levels Ability to work under pressure and against strict deadlines Work independently and in a team Ability to work on weekends, do stand-by and attend to call outs Ability to work accurately Work Location: In person Application Deadline: 2026/05/18
