Shop Assistant

We are recruiting a Shop Assistant for a busy retail outlet in Bloemfontein, Free State. You will operate the point-of-sale system, handle cash and card payments accurately, process returns and exchanges, and balance the till at the end of each shift. Honesty, integrity, and attention to detail are essential.

Responsibilities Handle customer returns and exchanges professionally, adhering to company policies while maintaining customer satisfaction. Monitor sales performance and implement initiatives to meet or exceed daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets. Process sales transactions accurately using the point-of-sale system, handling cash, card, and digital payments with speed and precision. Maintain the cleanliness and organisation of the store including the sales floor, fitting rooms, stockroom, and staff areas. Conduct regular stock counts and cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy and identify shrinkage issues promptly. Assist customers with product selection by providing knowledgeable advice and recommendations to enhance their shopping experience.

Requirements Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage positively with customers and team members. Strong numerical skills and attention to detail, particularly for cashier and stock control positions. A professional and well-presented appearance reflecting the brand image of the retail establishment. For management roles, proven experience in leading a retail team and driving sales to achieve targets. A genuine passion for customer service with the ability to handle difficult situations calmly and professionally. Proficiency in operating point-of-sale systems and basic computer literacy for stock management and reporting.
