LOCATION: Flushing, NY SHIFTS AVAILABLE: Monday - Wednesday 0800-1700 Pay Rate: $42 an hour Thursday 0800-1700 & Friday 0800-1400 Pay Rate: $42 an hour JOB DESCRIPTION: We are seeking a professional and experienced Armed Security Officer, must be ACTIVE OR RETIRED LAW ENFORCEMENT with prior supervisory experience to provide a safe and secure environment within a school setting. The ideal candidate will be responsible for monitoring school premises, responding to emergencies, enforcing safety procedures, and maintaining a visible security presence to protect students, staff, and visitors. This role requires strong leadership skills, the ability to supervise and support a team of security officers, excellent communication, sound judgment, and the capability to de-escalate incidents effectively while ensuring compliance with all school policies and security protocols. Candidates must be able to demonstrate professionalism at all times and have experience working in fast-paced environments. JOB DUTIES: Provide a safe secure environment for students, staff and guests inside the school.Establish and maintain good rapport with parents, students, staff and community members.Supervisor a team of officersEnsure safety and efficient reporting:Monitor hallways, stairwells, toilet facilities, outside facilities, and other public and unsupervised places of the school to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff and the security of the facility.Assist with fire drills, crises and other emergency building evacuations and situations.Assist administrators and staff in crisis and emergency situations.Ensure a smooth traffic flow of students through the hallways, assisting students with on-time arrival to class and to assigned locations.Supervise and direct student movement during arrival and dismissal.Update security records, logs, and reports.Ensure all doors and gates are locked and that all alarms are engaged at designated times.Assist staff and emergency personnel in handling emergencies and deescalating disruptive situations that may arise on campus.Assist in daily operational duties as needed.
