Our client, a retail centre in Bloemfontein, Free State, is looking for a Risk Officer to prevent theft and ensure a safe shopping environment. You will patrol the mall, monitor customer behaviour, apprehend shoplifters according to legal procedures, and assist with emergency evacuations. Retail security experience is preferred.ResponsibilitiesControl access to buildings and sites by verifying identification, issuing visitor passes, and maintaining an accurate access register.Assist with emergency procedures including fire evacuations, medical emergencies, and crisis situations according to established protocols.Provide excellent customer service to clients, tenants, and visitors while maintaining a firm and professional security presence.Respond promptly to alarm activations, investigate the cause, and take appropriate action including escalation to armed response or law enforcement.Supervise and coordinate a team of security officers, managing shift rosters and ensuring all posts are adequately staffed.RequirementsA valid PSIRA registration at the appropriate grade level for the position being applied for.A minimum of one to two years of experience in the security industry with a proven track record of reliability.A clear criminal record is mandatory and subject to regular review as per PSIRA requirements.Physical fitness and the ability to stand for extended periods, conduct foot patrols, and respond quickly to incidents.For armed response roles, a valid firearm competency certificate and experience in handling firearms safely.Good written and verbal communication skills to write reports and interact professionally with clients and the public.QualificationsNational Certificate in Security Management
