Maintenance Engineer

We are recruiting a Maintenance Engineer for a large manufacturing operation in Bloemfontein, Free State. The position involves optimising production processes, designing and implementing improvements, conducting root cause analyses, and managing capital expenditure projects from concept to commissioning. Strong technical knowledge and stakeholder management skills are required.

Responsibilities Conduct technical analyses including stress analysis, fluid dynamics, thermodynamics, and structural integrity using industry-standard software. Manage engineering projects from feasibility through detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover. Monitor and control project budgets, schedules, and resources, identifying risks and implementing mitigation measures. Develop detailed engineering designs, calculations, simulations, and technical specifications for civil, mechanical, electrical, or process systems. Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance programmes for industrial plant and equipment to maximise reliability. Liaise with clients, contractors, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are clearly communicated. Ensure all engineering work complies with relevant standards, codes of practice, health and safety regulations, and environmental legislation.

Requirements Proficiency in engineering design and analysis software relevant to the discipline such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, ANSYS, or MATLAB. Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and coordinating across engineering disciplines for integrated project outcomes. A minimum of five to eight years of postgraduate engineering experience with demonstrable project achievements in the relevant sector. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to apply engineering first principles to complex technical challenges. Effective written and verbal communication skills to produce clear technical reports and present to varied audiences. Strong understanding of engineering standards, codes of practice, and regulatory requirements applicable in South Africa. Professional registration as Pr Eng, Pr Tech Eng, or candidate registration actively working towards professional registration.
