*Position Summary** A Shipping Lead plays a critical role in ensuring efficient, complaint, and accurate shipping operations. The position combines logistics management, regulatory compliance, team leadership, and customer service, making it essential for smooth warehouse and distribution operations. The leader is responsible for the supervision of all hourly employees in their department. They must make sure that all work is done successfully and efficiently. A leader must display great leadership skills and ensure all work in their department is completed in a timely and satisfactory way. The shipping leader oversees shipping operations, manages staff, ensures compliance with regulations, and coordinates logistics to guarantee timely and accurate delivery of goods. *Essential Duties/Job Responsibilities (Job Duties)- Must have the ability and knowledge to run the shipping department overseeing daily warehouse activities including shipping, receiving, storage, order staging, and inventory control to ensure on-time delivery and damage-free shipments.Must be able to train employees and enforce company policiesMust be able to handle documentation and compliance: prepare bills of lading (BOL), commercial invoices, and shipping labels; maintain compliance with ISO, OSHA, DOT, IATA, HAZMAT, and other regulatory standards.Responsible for reporting all incidents and recommending discipline when necessaryQuality Control: perform inspections, generate QC reports, and ensure proper packaging and labeling of all outgoing shipments.Troubleshoot issues when they ariseWork in coordination with other departmentsTeam Leadership: Must show strong leadership skills and be able to work well with others. Train, coach, and lead shipping staff, assist with equipment usage, and manage small projects or process improvements.Must be able to communicate with internal teams and customers to resolve shipping issues and maintain inventory counts.Must show pride in work and constantly strive to get better*Minimum Qualifications/Skills:Strong written and verbal communication leadership and customer service skills are a must to coordinate with vendors, carriers, and internal teams.The ability to motivate team members and others is a must and must be assertive when needed.Organizational and leadership skills to manage staff, prioritize tasks, and oversee multiple shipments simultaneously.Proficiency with shipping software and ERP systems, including FedEx, DHL, etc.Knowledge of hazmat handling, international shipping regulations, and safety procedures.Attention to detail and pride in work are musts*Experience:Previous experience in a lead role desired.High School Diploma or GED is required, prefer associate degree in relevant fields such as logistics, business or management.Typically, 3-5+ years in shipping, warehouse, or logistics roles, with leadership experience preferred.Certifications (optional but beneficial): IATA, DOT, AED, CPR, IMDG, STA, PIT, HAZMAT, CCSF.AS400 and Movex experience is preferredMS Word, Excel, and Outlook experience is a plusPrior manufacturing experience preferred but not required*Working Environment:Primarily warehouse-based, involving standing, walking, lifting (up to 30-50 lbs.), and occasional climbing or reaching overhead.Fast-paced environment requires timely decision-making and the ability to handle interruptions while maintaining accuracy.May involve international shipping coordinator and interaction with multiple departments, including sales, production, and customer service.
