Job Summary We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accounting Clerk to join our accounting firm. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting with the accounting and bookkeeping functions of multiple clients across various industries. The role requires strong organisational skills, accuracy, and the ability to work within deadlines in a fast-paced client-service environment. Key Responsibilities Process and maintain client accounting records accurately and timeously. Capture and reconcile bank accounts, cashbooks, and general ledger accounts. Process supplier invoices, customer invoices, and journals. Perform debtor and creditor reconciliations for clients. Assist with VAT calculations and VAT submissions. Prepare working papers and supporting schedules for monthly management accounts. Assist with payroll processing and related statutory submissions where required. Maintain accurate filing systems and client documentation. Liaise professionally with clients regarding accounting queries and outstanding information. Ensure compliance with company procedures, accounting standards, and deadlines. Assist senior accountants and managers with client deliverables and ad hoc tasks. Support audit preparation and provide requested documentation. Manage multiple client portfolios efficiently and professionally. Minimum Requirements Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. 1–3 years’ experience in bookkeeping or accounting, preferably within an accounting firm. Understanding accounting principles and financial processes. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Good communication and client service skills. Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines. Preferred Skills and Experience Experience with Sage, Pastel, CaseWare. Knowledge of VAT, PAYE, and statutory submissions. Ability to manage multiple clients simultaneously. Strong administrative and organisational abilities. Professional attitude and ability to maintain confidentiality.
