Am Shift Supervisor – Job Description We are hereby inviting to you to apply to join our group of esteemed security officers at AM Security Services. Minimum Requirements PSIRA Grade A Matric or equivalent qualification At least 5 years' experience in the security industry. Management experience of at least 2 years Supervisory skills Knowledge of working with people. Able to work under pressure. Basic Computer Literacy Be of strong character, strict but firm. Effective Communication skills Effective report writing skills Job Description Each Shift Supervisor will be responsible for the duration of his/her shift. Handing over of all equipment and relevant information must be read and signed by both incoming and outgoing shift supervisor. Each Supervisor will ensure a full complement of staff on a duty. AM Supervisor to communicate with on-site supervisor/management. Inspections will be held before the beginning of each shift to ensure that all staff is fit for duty. Personnel found unfit for duties will be removed from site and replaced immediately. No staff/ visitor who are intoxicated will be allowed into the building, security management must be informed of this immediately. Staff will be posted according to the posting schedule. Relief staff will not be posted in strategic areas of the building (e.g.: Control Room). Ensure all security officers do not leave their post unattended without being properly relieved or reporting to the Control room. Ensure all staff is rotated on regular basis, with security management approval. Ensure all communication on the radio is in English and 2-way radio protocols are followed. No unnecessary talking on the radio will be tolerated. Supervisors to take necessary steps against the offending officer. Identify poor performers and take necessary steps. Periodic spot checks must be carried out by the supervisor to ensure security officers are not asleep at their post. Security officers found in neglecting their duties will be sent for disciplinary action and possibility of being removed from site depending on the offence. No officers shall be allowed grouping. Ensure no unauthorized access in the control room unless on active duty or prior permission has been granted. Maintenance teams will be allowed access the control rooms to carry out service only. Supervisor will ensure that all staff familiarize themselves with the SOP, JD and the Emergency Procedures of this building once a quarter and acknowledges by signing the register. Peruse Instruction / Information Book to ensure you are aware of all relevant information and changes that might have taken place whilst you were off/leave. All communication and instruction that may arise must be communicated to all the security officers immediately. Supervisors will be requested to do ad-hoc services if and when required. The Supervisor on duty will report directly to the client on a daily basis. Ensure the safety of the client’s assets and personnel at all times. Ensure building and basement patrols are carried out as instructed. All security officers and Control room Commander will report directly to the Shift Supervisor on duty. Supervisors will carry out building patrols and ensure that check list is done at the beginning and end of shift. All reports will be brought to the security management’s attention and escalated to the TFMC, Fault register for immediate attention. No fire escape doors will be opened without security management approval. The supervisor must complete an incident report with all relevant information and necessary photos attached. All Lost & Found items must be handed to the Security Control Room, recorded and signed by the person receiving the items. All items must be labelled. No keys from the key cabinet will be issued to any contractor/ staff without proper authorization. Keys will only be issued upon receiving confirmation via an e-mail. Supervisor will be requested to open certain doors and areas must be secured immediately. Any doors that may be required to be opened must be communicated with the security control room and must be recorded onto an Occurrence Book. Ad-hoc duties will also be required when necessary. Assist with reliefs and managing lunch breaks including assisting in the control room. Collate monthly stats Make certain decisions without compromising the security of the building and staff. Decision to be report to client management immediately. Ensure all documents are filed accordingly. Ensure that AM staff members do not confront tenants on minor issues. Serious offences must be escalated to client management immediately. Closing date of this position will be at the end of business on 22 May 2026.
