Job Role: Security Officer Working Hours: 40 hours per week - various shifts, as per site rota Pay: £13.45 per hour Location: Waverley Market Shopping Centre, 3/48 Waverley Bridge, Edinburgh, EH1 1BQ Reporting to: Operations Manager / Contracts Manager Overview An exciting opportunity has arisen at Anchor Group Services, for two experienced Security Officers to join our established security team based at Waverley Market Shopping Centre in Edinburgh. As a Security Officer, you will be responsible for conducting regular patrols throughout the shopping centre, monitoring activity to ensure a safe and secure environment for all visitors and staff. You will respond promptly to incidents, liaise professionally with members of the public and site management, and maintain accurate records in line with operational procedures. A strong presence, attention to detail, and commitment to upholding site security standards are essential. The successful candidate must have a valid SIA Licence as a minimum, with CCTV preferred but not essential as training will be provided. Previous security experience is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate flexibility with working hours and possess the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Duties include: Protecting the client’s property, people and/or assets by providing security services in direct accordance with the sites published Assignment Instructions (AI’s) and site-specific proceduresPreventing losses and damage by reporting irregularities; informing offenders of policy and proceduresPreventing and escalating incidents in a timely, accurate and appropriate manner to the Control Room/ Shift Manager/Operations Manager/Emergency Services as appropriate for serious incidentsOperating and monitoring site CCTV equipmentCompleting reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activitiesMaintaining organisation's stability and reputation by complying with legal requirementsContributing to team effort by accomplishing related results as neededActing as a first line support to customers and visitors on site, providing a professional and friendly serviceUnderstanding the needs of our customer, respond accordingly to customer queries and requests and take appropriate actionMaintaining professional conduct at all timesRequirementsFull checkable 5-year employment history - essential Valid SIA licence - essential Customer Service experience and confidence to handle conflict in a correct mannerFlexible to meet the job requirementsExcellent communication skills both written and verbalSmart appearance and be well-groomedReliable and punctualHigh level of enthusiasm and passionAbility to work in a fast-moving environmentBenefitsAccess to a range of nationally recognised courses to help further your career, via the Anchor AcademyAccess to SIA and First Aid training at discounted rates, with financial support availableAuto Enrolment Pension (if earnings reach the minimum requirement for auto-enrolment)Stream - access to pay as you earn itCycle to Work Scheme AvailableFull uniform providedFree Employee Assistance Programme 24/7 including access to counsellingHospital Saturday FundReward and Recognition awards What’s Next? Overview
