The purpose of this Merchandiser role is to open and close the store following security procedures and handle customer returns and exchanges professionally. Responsibilities Merchandise stock on shelves and displays according to planograms and visual standards, ensuring shelves are fully faced and tidy. Receive, unpack, and price incoming stock deliveries, checking quantities against delivery notes and reporting discrepancies. Train and develop new sales assistants, demonstrating excellent customer service techniques and product knowledge. Assist customers with product selection by providing knowledgeable advice and recommendations to enhance their shopping experience. Open and close the store following security procedures including cashing up, locking up, and setting alarms. Conduct regular stock counts and cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy and identify shrinkage issues promptly. Requirements Proficiency in operating point-of-sale systems and basic computer literacy for stock management and reporting. Flexibility to work retail hours including weekends, public holidays, and late trading evenings. Strong numerical skills and attention to detail, particularly for cashier and stock control positions. A minimum of one to three years of retail experience with proven customer service skills in a store environment. A Grade 12 certificate is the minimum requirement; a retail or business-related qualification is advantageous.
