Overview Job Skills / Requirements Site Description: The Halifax Infirmary is home to the Charles V. Keating Emergency and Trauma Centre. It also houses a number of inpatient units, general surgery, vascular surgery, cardiovascular surgery, orthopedic surgery and outpatient clinics. Registration for outpatient clinics is located at the Summer St. lobby. The main entrance to the Halifax Infirmary is at 1796 Summer St., across from the Summer St. parkade. Position Details: Position: Security Guard Site: Halifax Infirmary Hospital Job Type : Part Time Hours: (0800-2000hrs and 2000hrs-0800hrs) Payrate: $20.50 Key Responsibilities: Provide Customer Service: Serve as the First point of contact and greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures. Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities. Access Control : Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas. Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations. Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally. Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns. Collaboration with Hospital Staff : Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved. Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed. Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards Prerequisites: Ability to obtain Security License for the province of Nova Scotia Valid Standard First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a CSA-approved vendor) English (oral and written) fluency is a must Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred. Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability Why choose Paladin?
