You will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and security of Council buildings, employees, visitors and assets. Acting as a visible and reassuring presence, you will help maintain a safe environment while providing a polite, professional and customer-focused service. This is a frontline role that requires confidence, good judgement and the ability to respond calmly and effectively to a wide range of situations. Key responsibilities Provide a visible security presence within the Civic PremisesCarry out regular patrols and inspections of the siteOperate and monitor CCTV systems, ensuring accurate logs and records are maintainedControl access to the building in line with policies and proceduresIdentify and manage unwanted behaviour, disputes or security risksRespond to alarms, incidents and requests for assistanceLiaise with emergency services and other authorities where requiredChallenge and report suspicious activityProduce written incident reports when necessaryImplement emergency procedures, including fire evacuation arrangementsAct as a Fire Marshal and provide first aid support when requiredUse radio communication clearly and appropriately About You You will be calm, professional and customer-focused, with the ability to handle challenging situations confidently and appropriately. You will understand the importance of clear communication, confidentiality and equality in a public-facing environment. Essential Requirements A valid SIA licenceA valid CCTV licenceExperience of operating CCTV, access control and security alarm systemsKnowledge of criminal and civil law relevant to security workExperience of front-of-house security in a public or large estate settingGood IT skills, including the ability to use online systems and Microsoft OfficeExcellent customer service and communication skillsFirst aid trained (or willing to undertake training)GCSE (or equivalent) Level 2 EnglishCommitment to equality, diversity and confidentiality This post is covered by the Government's Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English. About The Role
