Airfreight Export Customer Service

Role Overview We are seeking an experienced Airfreight Customer Service Representative to coordinate and manage international airfreight export shipments from initial shipper coordination through to final uplift and JFC (Job Financial Completion) status, in accordance with customer requirements, airline regulations, company procedures, and all applicable government and industry standards. The role requires strong operational knowledge of international airfreight procedures, a solid understanding of Incoterms, and the ability to manage shipments end-to-end while delivering exceptional customer service, operational accuracy, compliance, and proactive communication throughout the shipment lifecycle. The successful candidate will liaise closely with customers, overseas agents, airlines, cargo terminals, transport providers, customs brokers, and internal stakeholders to ensure efficient and cost-effective freight solutions while maintaining a high level of professionalism and service delivery. Exposure to multimodal freight operations, including seafreight and road freight, will be advantageous. This is a remote position. Key Accountabilities: Coordinate international airfreight export shipments from initial shipper liaison and booking stage through to final uplift and JFC (Job Financial Completion) status.Arrange airline bookings and manage cargo uplift in accordance with airline cut-off times and customer requirements.Liaise with shippers, consignees, airlines, cargo terminals, transport providers, overseas agents, customs brokers, and internal departments to ensure smooth and compliant shipment execution.Prepare, review, and process export documentation including MAWB, HAWB, manifests, booking requests, shipping instructions, export declarations, and Dangerous Goods documentation where applicable.Ensure compliance with IATA regulations, Australian export requirements, airline procedures, security protocols, and customer SOP requirements.Maintain comprehensive knowledge of Australian airfreight export procedures, terminal operations, customs clearance requirements, and airline regulations.Demonstrate advanced understanding and practical application of international Incoterms, including associated freight forwarding responsibilities, risk transfer points, and cost allocations.Register, manage, and maintain accurate shipment statuses within the company operating system in accordance with company SOPs.Proactively communicate shipment updates, delays, exceptions, and operational issues to customers, overseas agents, and management.Work closely with 1UP Cargo global offices, overseas agents, airlines, and service providers to identify optimal logistics solutions while maintaining high service standards and protecting the integrity of the business.Review, analyse, and accurately process Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable transactions within required timelines.Manage files through to JFC (Job Financial Completion), including accurate invoicing, WIP management, accrual processing, and month-end financial finalisation.Maintain accurate and up-to-date shipment tracking spreadsheets and operational records.Apply professional email etiquette and communication skills (verbal and written) in business English at all times.Answer and manage incoming phone calls professionally using Microsoft Teams and direct calls appropriately.Ensure timely responses to all customer, supplier, agent, and internal communications.Escalate operational issues, service failures, shipment delays, or compliance concerns to management proactively.Assist with operational support and additional duties as reasonably assigned by management.Educational / Experiential Requirements: Matric / Grade 12 qualification.CargoWise experience is mandatory.Minimum 3 years’ experience within the freight forwarding industry.Previous operational airfreight experience is essential.Experience handling Dangerous Goods shipments will be advantageous.Exposure to multimodal freight operations, including airfreight, seafreight, and road freight, will be advantageous.Relevant freight forwarding, logistics, or supply chain qualifications will be advantageous.Key Skills: Strong understanding of international airfreight operations.Advanced knowledge of Incoterms and international freight forwarding procedures.Sound understanding of airline, cargo terminal, customs, and compliance requirements.Strong customer service and relationship management skills.Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.Strong organisational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.Ability to work under pressure and meet strict operational deadlines and airline cut-off times.Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.Strong teamwork and collaboration abilities.Results-driven mindset with accountability and ownership of shipments.High level of computer literacy, including Microsoft Office 365 and CargoWise.Ability to work independently and effectively within a remote working environment.Systems Requirements: Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Office 365, including Outlook, MS Teams, Word, and Excel.Completion of CargoWise One training up to CCS level is preferred.Ability to navigate and maintain operational accuracy within company operating systems and customer platforms.Working hours: AEST Hours Job Type: Full-time Application Question(s): Do you have a comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Office 365, including Outlook, MS Teams, Word, and Excel ?Do you have experience handling Dangerous Goods shipments ?Do you have exposure to multimodal freight operations (airfreight, seafreight, and road freight) ?Are you able to work AEST (Nightshift)?Do you have 3 years' experience in Freight Forwarding?Do you have advanced knowledge of Incoterms and international freight forwarding procedures?Experience: CargoWise 1: 1 year (Required)Operational Airfreight Export : 1 year (Required)Work Location: Remote
